Type II has the same ornamentation which is microperforate on both apocolpium and mesocolpium areas, e.g. C. acicularis. Type III is charaecterized by its fossulate to r ulate ornamentation on mesocolpium area, and nearly smooth on apocolpium area, e.g. C. lanceolata. Type IV, the ornamentation on mesocolpium area is foveolate, but on apocolpium area it is nearly smooth or few microperforations, e.g. C. incana. Type V, the ornamentation on both apocolpium and mesocolpium areas is reticulate, e.g. C. elliptica. All five pollen types have the same exine stratification, and their interstitium belong to collumelae. The variation of pollen features in all species of Crotalaria L are small, and pollen morphology is not a good criterion for the identification of this genus. 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 植物學系 === 86 === Abstract
Twenty-two species of the genus Crotalaria L., Family
Leguminosae, were studied their external-, seed- and pollen-
morphologies, using light microscopy, scanning electron
microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.
Based on the shape and size of calyx, two types of calyx are
proposed : Type I regular calyx, it has the same sizes and
shapes of the lobes. Type II irregular calyx, it has the
different sizes and shapes of the calyx lobes. This type again
can be subdivided into two subtypes. Subtype IIa calyx has two
additional bracts. Subtypes IIb calyx does not have additional
bracts.
The seed characteristies of this genus are : the shape reniform
; the surface smooth, reticulate or granulate ; the rim-arils
indistinctive and the radicular lobe introrse or wanting.
After close study of pollen morphology for two different types
of anthers, they are similar. They are also indistintive among
species. However, still five pollen types can be found based on
the exine ornamentation. In type I, the mesocolpium
ornamentation is microperforate, but the apocolpium
ornamentation is nearly smooth, e.g. C. pallida. Type II has
the same ornamentation which is microperforate on both
apocolpium and mesocolpium areas, e.g. C. acicularis. Type III
is charaecterized by its fossulate to r
ulate ornamentation on mesocolpium area, and nearly smooth on
apocolpium area, e.g. C. lanceolata. Type IV, the ornamentation
on mesocolpium area is foveolate, but on apocolpium area it is
nearly smooth or few microperforations, e.g. C. incana. Type V,
the ornamentation on both apocolpium and mesocolpium areas is
reticulate, e.g. C. elliptica. All five pollen types have the
same exine stratification, and their interstitium belong to
collumelae. The variation of pollen features in all species of
Crotalaria L
are small, and pollen morphology is not a good criterion for
the identification of this genus.
