of ice-storage air-conditioning system, the goal of shifting peak and off-
peak power consumption does not achieve well.
This thesis consists of three major parts: development a series of design
guidelines for ice-storage chiller, establishment of the control strategy for
melting process, and evaluation a better operation strategy for an ice-storage
air-conditioning system.
First, an ice-storage chiller is theoretically and experimentally investigated
, and some design guidelines are also provided to serve as a reference for
better design purpose. Next, we establish a control strategy for melting
process by continuously checking the return water temperature. Finally,
general-purpose software for evaluating the control method (chiller priority
and storage priority) and strategy (full storage and partial storage) is also
proposed. We evaluate these management methods with six different type
of cooling load, and discuss with several important factors. Such as: two
or three periods of charge, energy and demand charge ratio of peak and
off-peak hours, cost of equipments, discount rate and inflation rate, and
the design concept of ice-storage chiller (single and dual evaporator).
The payback period and total saved electrical costs of 25 years in present
value are used as indicators.
