The design of this qualitative study was by method of clinical field study, using purposive sampling. Six women with recurrent spontaneous abortion experiences were enrolled in this study and observer as participant approach was employed. After choosing the study subjects, researcher acted as a primary nurse to each subject and started to contact them from their initial medical visit (about the 6th gestational week) to the 24 week of gestation. During this time providing required education and services at periodic check-ups and telephone interviews about every two weeks. Seven to nine contacts were made for each subject and subject''s vocal and non-vocal behaviors will be documented after each contacts as narrative process recordings. The data were further analysis by content analysis. The results of this research were as followed : Four main themes of life situations experienced by these women were : 1)Experiencing uncertainty about the safety of pregnancy ; 2) Hobbling about the reestablishment of normal life pattern ; 3) Experiencing protracted life span ; 4) Frustrating by differences between ideal and reality. Their actions taken to help them cope with experienced life situations can be categorized into three items : 1) Self re-orientating the present situation ; 2) Gearing-up for a safe pregnancy, and 3) Adjusting and sustaining herself to go on. From the results of this study we can further understand the thoughts, feelings and attitudes of these women who experienced recurrent spontaneous abortions and then able to provide them with their needs. This will enable clinical nurse to offer more appropriate cares. Key words : recurrent spontaneous abortion ; pregnancy ; second trimester ; life situation ; coping behavior
