The anisotropic absorption effect of the dichroic dye and the characteristics of low threshold voltage, fast response and wide viewing angle of the ferroelectric liq-uid crystal were used to investigate the performance of this device. Our main objective was to discuss the effect of the ferroelectric liquid crys-tal after mixing with dichroic dye. At the same time, we also discussed the ac-tive energy and viewing angle of the dye guest-host ferroelectric liquid cyrstal.The results showed that the dichroic dye mixture increased the rotational viscosity of the whole dye guest-host ferroelectric liquid crystal mixed system and decreased the response time. In addition, it the bistability and memory effect of the dye guest-host ferroelectric liquid crystal much more than the ferroelec-tric liquid crystal did.The results of active energy and viewing angle show that addition of di-chroic dye increased the active energy of the dye guest-host ferroelectric liquid crystal system and made the viewing angle of the dye guest-host ferroelectric liquid crystal better than the ferroelectric liquid crystal.
