movements for university/college-businesspartnerships,which are
also referred to as businessand higher education collaborations
and alliances,are becoming visible educational concepts in
Americanhigher education today. University/college-business
partnerships referto alliances and collaborations between
colleges anduniversities and businesses and industries for
thepurposes of improving (1) the financial situation ofcolleges
and universities, (2) American productivityand competitiveness,
and (3) the well-being of theAmerican business community.
Examples of suchpartnerships include university-affiliated
industrialparks, technical centers, and on-campus tranining
centers. The fact is that the future of America's
businessindustry and educational systems may depend upon
businessand higher education partnerships in their effort
tocompete with foreign competitors and to ensure theeconomic
development of the country based on the strategicuse of
knowledge derived from such alliances and collaborations.
