Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台南藝術學院 === 博物館學研究所 === 86 === Summary of the Graduate Presentation for the M. A. Degree Subject:《Exhibition Design: Grand Period─Pottery and Ceramics of Tan Dynasty》 School: Tainan National College of the Arts Graduate Institute of Museology Name: Wang Shu-Chen Professor: Dr. Han Po-Te Content: This graduate presentation is to manifest the processes of creating an exhibition. That is from searching for an exhibition subject, choosing the objects, forming the structure, designing the setting, to making the concrete model, the whole planning and preparing procedures of an exhibition. The subject of a museum exhibition is ever changing, and realizing an exhibition needs many kinds of professionals. Normally, researcher, educator, collection manager, and exhibition designer all should take involved. In this presentation, I am going to take the role of an exhibition designer. I will emphasize the logic process of the planning and creating of an exhibition. The way of exhibiting and the model of designing will be the point of my presentation. The conditions of my exhibition design are object, date, and place─pottery and ceramics of Tan dynasty, from 1998 summer to 1999 summer, and the first floor of the South Gallery of TNCA. This model exhibition would be an art exhibition. By the method of the design, I hope to reveal the beauty of the artifact of Tan dynasty, and to express the spirit of the time and the grand style of Tan’s culture. Therefore, I give it the name “ Grand Period─Pottery and Ceramics of Tan Dynasty”. In order to break though the conventional way of making a works of art exhibition, which always uses a lot of panels, locked cases, long terms label, etc., to explicit the function and value of the object and the worth of it in the art history. I adopt film projecting, vivid frescos, and well designed cases to form a charming exhibiting atmosphere. I try to view this whole exhibition as a work of art, to create a state within limited space and time to touch and move the audience as possible as I can. Once they feel interested, they probably will go looking for other resources to increase their own knowledge about the exhibition after the visit. The percentage of the model is one to thirty. All the details are modeled authentically, such as the space, exhibiting cases, projecting screen, pillar show windows, and panels. Only the frescos are replaced by wallpaper because lacking of the material.
