Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 87 === It becomes crucial for a company to use IT applications (IS) to improve its competitiveness under today global market pressure. To take the advantage of IT application, the research about how to improve the software (system) quality has long become a hot topic. In software engineering area, there is a rapidly growth interest about Capability Maturity Model (CMM). The CMM describes an evolutionary improvement path for software organizations from an ad hoc to a mature. With the aid of CMM , a software organization can continuously improve its software process. This research surveys the IS organizations of the top 1000 companies in Taiwan. In addition to address the current CMM practices of large companies in Taiwan, the relationships between organizational characteristics and software process maturity are also explored. The results of a mail survey indicated that: 1. The software process maturity of IS department in Taiwan is not good. 2. Organization size and attitude of high-level manager have significant correlation with software process maturity. 3. Information system maturity is highly correlated with software process maturity. 4. The degree of IS department formalization, complication, centralization have moderate correlation with software process maturity. Software process maturity is also correlated with role of IS department. 5. Organization size, attitude of high-level manager, degree of IS department formalization, complication, centralization, role of IS department have significant correlation with software process maturity.
