Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 87 === The Taiwan government has promoted the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) implementation in all respects after the execution of "Cargo Clearance Automation Planning" in 1991. Many other industries started to adopt EDI because the transportation industry has implemented EDI successfully. Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is a hot issue of the academics and enterprises in the last decade. It is also an important weapon of enterprises to adapt themselves to the competitive environment. EDI is one kind of information technology. The EDI implementation changed enormously the ways of work and operation process in enterprises. The influence of EDI leads to the BPR implementation and is also one important BPR implementation factor. Many scholars believe that there might be some correlation relationship between EDI and BPR, but they seldom explore the indeed relationship. This paper will study the relationship between EDI and BPR deeply. This study uses the method of questionnaire survey. The research objects have two parts. One is EDI users of “Promotion Project of Commerce VAN (PPCVAN)” and another is top 1000 manufacturing companies in Taiwan’s Common Wealth magazine. Five hundred companies of each part are chosen by systematic sampling to test the following research hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: The types of the EDI implementation may have impact on the BPR implementation. Hypothesis 2: The types of the BPR implementation factors may have impact on the BPR implementation. Hypothesis 3: The types of the BPR implementation may have impact on the BPR performance. Hypothesis 4: The types of the EDI implementation may have impact on the BPR performance. Hypothesis 5: The types of the BPR implementation factors may have impact on the BPR performance. Our findings indicate that the EDI users’ results of PPCVAN are: (1) There is no significant impact of the types of EDI implementation on the BPR implementation. That is there is no correlation relationship between EDI and BPR. (2) There are significant impacts of the types of EDI implementation on the BPR performance. (3) There are significant impacts of the types of BPR implementation factors on the BPR implementation and performance. And the enterprises adopt the type of emphasized in both inside and outside will get the best performance. (4) There are significant impacts of the types of BPR implementation on the BPR performance. And the enterprises adopt the type of aggressive implementation will get the best performance. The top 1000 manufacturing companies’ results are: (1) There are significant impacts of the types of EDI implementation on the BPR implementation and performance. That is there is correlation relationship between EDI and BPR. (2) There are significant impacts of the types of BPR implementation factor on the BPR implementation and performance. And the enterprises adopt the type of emphasized in overall will get the best performance. (3) There are significant impacts of the types of BPR implementation on the BPR performance. And the enterprises adopt the type of aggressive implementation will get the best performance.
