Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學院 === 護理學研究所 === 87 === Abstract The purpose of this study was to understand self-care behaviors and related factors in public health nurses'' home visiting diabetes mellitus cases. Data were collected by purposeful sampling method. A total of 143 samples were recruited to participate in this study from 8 health centers managing diabetes mellitus cases in the Kaohsiung City. A constructed questionnaire was used in measuring demographic factors, self-care behaviors, the perception of interaction relationship with public health nurses, knowledge of disease, and attitude of disease. Data analysis included percentage, means, standard deviation, t test, one way ANOVA, Person''s product moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the index of mean score to self-care behaviors was 59.78. Men had better self-care behavior score than women did. Cases with junior high school education had better self-care behavior score than cases with uneducated or elementary education. In addition cases with senior or higher education had better self-care behavior score than cases who are uneducated. Cases withⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ socioeconomic status had better self-care behavior score than cases withⅤsocioeconomic status. The perception of interaction relationship with public health nurses, knowledge of disease, and attitude of disease were all positively correlated to self-care behaviors significantly. The perception of interaction relationship with public health nurses and knowledge of disease were important predictors of the self-care behaviors and explain 32.00 % of the total variance. The results of this study could be used as a reference for public health nurses in health education for home visiting diabetes mellitus cases and as a suggestion for future researches. Key words: non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, self-care behaviors, perception of interaction relationship with public health nurses, knowledge of disease, attitude of disease.
