Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 應用化學系 === 87 === The goal of this proposed research is mainly focused on the synthesis of side chain liquid crystalline polymers containing thiophene-based mesogens, vinyl linkage and plor end group. Two series of new side chain liquid crystalline polymer will be prepared according to careful molecular design of polymerbackbond, spacer, mesogen and polar end group. Polysiloxane is used as the polymerbackbond, Three to nine methylene units are used as flexible spacer. Trans-styrtlthiophene group is designed for the mesogen, and a methoxy and a cyano are desinged for the end grooup. The prepared liquid crystal monomers are grafted onto the polysiloxane backbone via hydrosilation reaction. The obtained monomers and polymers are characterized by IR. NMR and Mass analysis. The sythesized liquid crystalline polymers have potential application in the fielc of stationary phase of gas charomatography.
