Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 化學研究所 === 87 === Highly stereoregulated syndiotactic-polystyrene (s-PS) polymer has many advantageous physical properties to perform like high degree of crystallinity, rapid crystallization rates, high glass translation temperature (about 100oC), high melting temperature (about 270oC), and low dielectric constant. However syndiotactic-polystyrene (s-PS) shows defects after injection molded and limiting it performance. The present study exploits these characters. Conventional blending means to improve these properties shows phase separation and decrease physical properties and performance. To solve this problem, this study us metallocene catalysis and methylaluminoxane cocatalysis to synthesis styrene-ethylene (PE-co-s-PS) copolymer, which solves both the defects and phase separation problems with blending. With inserting less amount of short and soft polyethene block, syndiotactic polystyrene can show faster crystallinity, crystallization rate and yield more stable crystallite forms of syndiotactic polystyrene. This copolymer is suitable for different applications.
