By the advantage of multimedia and convenient network interface, we construct a learning environment server and software for discussing and learning. It not only simulates the traditional learning, but also makes learning more convenient.   Without the chance of face to face communication, the students of web-based learning systems need to study alone without peer support and pressure. A teacher may apply the group learning model to solve this problem. To ensure a good learning achievement of groups, the teacher should do heterogeneous grouping, manage and monitor the group learning, and apply proper actions and teaching strategies. However, the teacher can only get information by watching on the huge amount of web interactions or access logs. It will be of great burden of the teacher.   In this paper, we devise instructional management assisted instruments for grouping, observation and strategy analysis. First, the database techniques are applied to record and transform student logs to the feature space that is defined by the teacher. We propose a tool to group students heterogeneously according to the feature space. Then we apply the OLAP technique to summarize meaningful information to the teacher. Associate rule mechanism is also devised to help the teachers analyze their teaching strategies. By the assisting of these tools, the teacher could be relieve from burden of tedious works and focus on managing and intervening the groups to promote learning achievement of the students.
