Summary:碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 87 === The purpose of this study was to explore the attitude and needs of students’ parents toward the parent education activity held by the elementary schools of Taichung. This research was based on the parents of the elementary schools in Taichung as our survey population and used stratified cluster random sampling method. We took 1/4 schools from the eight administrative districts individually in Taichung City as our sample schools, then picked up one class of each low, medium, and high grade class from every sample school as our statistic samples to proceed questionnaire investigation. The valid samples were totally 1062 persons. Data were analyzed by percentile, Chi-square tese, t-test and ANOVA. The results are summarized as follows : 1. The majority of the elementary school parents have positive recognition as to the implementation of parent education. And the parents of different backgrounds show significant difference. 2. Generally speaking, most of the parents think highly of the parent education. And the parents of different background still have significant difference on parents education. 3. The involvement degree of the parent education activity usually is not high. Parents of different background have significant difference on their involvement in the activity . 4. The parents education activity that parents frequently attend are:family communication book, community and school sports rally and parent education publication. 5. The primary reason that parents do not attend the parent education activity is:too busy and no time. 6. Generally speaking, the parents are satisfied with to the parent education held by school, but they don’t show enthusiam. Parents of different background have significant difference. The better their education background , the less satisfaction they show. 7. Concerning the following 3 domains:establishing a good family environment, cultivating the intelligence and skill in their son and daughter, obtaining the information related to school education, the parents have urgent needs to learn “the way to maintain good family relationship”, “the feature and needs in every stage of children psychology, characteristics, and moral development”, and “how parents instruct their children to learn efficiently”. 8. The individual methods that the parents prefer are using family communication books, he phone call interview by the instructors, and setting the consulting hot line. The group methods are inviting experts or scholars to make the speeches, holding family communication activities, and attending the instructing activity in school. 9. The parents prefer the school to manage the parents education activity during the daytime of holiday. Most of the parents consider that parent education lesson should be held two times each semester. And the parent education publication published once a week will be more acceptable. Keywords : elementary school parent education attitude needs
