Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 園藝學研究所 === 87 === Polygonatum odoratum ''Veriegatum'', Soloman''s Seal is a kind of perennial belongs to the botanical family of liliaceae, because of its beautiful outlook, it was produced as cut leaves in Taiwan. The objectives of this study were focusing on the influences of temperature, shading and nitrogen concentration on the growth and variegation of Soloman''s Seal in order to established the background cultural informations to determine a suitable timing for rhizomes production and methods to increase the variegation of this crop. Solomon''s Seal grown at MeiFeng showed that the dry weight of new rhizome, two-year-old rhizome and roots gradually increased from March to August, and had a gradually decrease after August. Leaves began to grow in April and began to wilt in November, simultaneously the foliar N, K contents were decreased and P, Ca contents were gradually increased, while the change of Mg contents were not significant. Cut off the aerial shoot in June and July not only affected the quality of cut leaves, but also decreased the growth of the rhizome of the next season. Rhizomes of one-year-old and one-and-two-year-old were suitable for the production of cut leaves, while two-and-three-year-old was suitable for the production of rhizomes, that would produce cut leaves for two more years of growing.
Soloman''s Seal grew in 5 different day/night temperature:15/13, 20/15, 25/20, 30/25, 35/30℃ in a natural sunlight condition showed that: temperature at 20/15 and 25/20℃ enhanced the growth of rhizome and the quality of cut leaves, and 30/25℃ treatment get the greatest variegation in the next growth season. The chilling requirement for the sprouting and elongation of the shoot of Solomon''s Seal was predicted by regression, showing a range from -1.5 to 5℃ enhance the sprouting, using 2℃ for 59 days of storage would get the best result, when transferred to a condition of 15~20℃would sprout within 8 days. A significant linear correlation (P<0.001) between the rate of sprouting which was determined by both the temperature and storage time and the thermal time of cold treatment was observed, and could be used as a reference for the off-season crop prodution. Sucrose content of the rhizome was increased after the 5 and 22℃ storage for 16 days, while the fructose content had a tendency to decrease, and the content was still the highest in 5℃ storage treatment.
From the shading treatment results of MeiFeng and experimental farm in Taipei showed that, no significant difference of aerial shoot length was occurred in the shading level between 0~40%, but when the shading level exceeded 50%, and the daily irradiance was below 1.2MJ/m2, the shoot length would increase as the shading level was increased. Shading level at 35~60% was suitable for production of cut leaves, but no shading in the greenhouse was suitable for the production of rhizome, shading had no effect on the variegation of Soloman''s Seal. Better aerial shoot and rhizome growth were enhanced by using nitrogen level on 4-8mM, but nitrogen fertilizer regime didn''t affect the variegation of Soloman''s Seal.
