Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 建築學系 === 87 === Abstract This thesis design is based on the plan- “the Art Network of Railway in Taiwan”. Because Hsinchu station had ever played an important role on the Railway Wagon Business of Northern Taiwan, and thus embodies many special characteristics — the site is one kilometer away from Hsinchu station, and owns many warehouses near the center of wagon dispatch. It provides much potential to be turned into an art village. In thinking about this project, I decide to focus on the following three directions: 1、Rehabilitation of Old Buildings Because of the changeableness of city, many old buildings have been deserted before the end of their lives. But time changes, memory remains still. To give a new spirit in Architecture based on memories, the old building has to be reborn. To change the lost place to a wonderful place in our city is a real concern to our world. 2、Railway Memory & City Memory For a city, railway is not only a tool, but also a history. It witnesses the changes of the old industrial stucture and its constituent objects. For people, except for its amazing machine esthetics, railway contains unbearable thought and many migratory stories. If you want to write down something about railway, you have to recognize it deeply. 3、Dialogue between Citizen, Art , and Artist Art is longed for, but hard to understand. An artist is envied, but often feels lonely in the tower of ivory. This placeis belongs to citizens, and artists, too. It provides a great opportunity to induce dialogue.
