Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同工學院 === 事業經營研究所 === 87 === Both traditional and high-tech industries are faced with not only a variety of customer demands, but also a series of challenges-intense global competition, shortened product life cycle and delivery, and global coordination between sources of raw materials and global manufacturing-which take the supply network more time to integrate. Due to the time pressure caused by the vast supply network, corporations must develop an integrated process management system to make the best of time and respond to quick changes in the commercial circle. Therefore, a new idea covering a wider range called "Global Logistics Management" (GLM) has derived from the traditional way of Business Logistics. As the electronic information industry, which is made up of OEM/ODM manufacturers (Original Equipment Manufacturing /Original Design Manufacturing), in Taiwan faces dynamic changes in the environment and market prices, the need to develop the GLM system emerges from the electronic information industry in the first place. Therefore, objects of this research are Taiwanese electronic information manufacturers that are implementing GLM in practice, especially the OEM/ODM firms. There are four objectives of this research: (1) to find out the causes for the electronic information industry to move toward GLM, (2) to find out the factors for the electronic information industry to be successful in GLM, (3) to discuss the ways of GLM the electronic information industry engages in, and (4) to provide the proposition of GLM strategy for the electronic information industry. According to the case study with in-depth interviews, this research yields the following conclusions: 1. GLM is the prerequisite to the survival of electronic information OEM/ODM manufacturers in Taiwan. 2. Firms must have some prerequisites for a successful GLM. 3. Building the flexible global production and assembling system, integrating information system frameworks, and having the capability to support customers constitutes the core operations of GLM. 4. GLM is indeed helpful to improve competitive priorities. In flexibility, it enhances global resources allocation and flexible production. In distribution, it develops the capability to take firm command of distribution channels, global production, and supporting services. 5. GLM model strengthens the partnership between the upstream and downstream members. To suppliers, it brings down the turnover of customers and minimizes risks in transactions.
