Most of the 3-D measurements inspection remain manual operation which is not only time consuming, labor intensive, but also inefficient. It may become bottle neck in the production and quality assurance operations.
Due to the fact that it is very difficult to proceed 3-D free-form surface measurement by learn mode with a CNC type 3D CMM machine, the focus of this research is to develop the DMIS interfaces between the CAD model and the CMM measurement system. This developed system enables automatic measurement inspection of an object by the CMM machine which in based on the CAD model.It is proved to be a more efficient and reliable procedure for 3-D free-form surface measurement inspection.
3-D free-from surface measuring paths of CMM are executed under CAD operating system , It is predicted that the CMM system equipped with DMIS transformer will be operated by 3-D surface measuring automatically in our country , This technique should make factories in advance of automation , avoiding manual loss , reducing measuring error and improving using duration of CMM , The research should be of great advantage to automation of measurement and CAD/CAM ,and even to integration of CIM .
