The objective of the thesis is to design a small remote controlled system that can fit generic, low price restrictions and can be easily transferred to other simple micro-controller. In implementation, it can be divided into hardware, firmware and software. In the design of hardware aspect, the objectives are as follows: law cost, high stability, remote data transmission, and easy expansion. In the cost aspect, the chip in the control system is designed according to demand of marketing. In the stability aspect, we can do test on input power and use special chip for producing reset signal to reduce the possibility of system failure and error control. In remote data transmission aspect, we use micro-controller 8051 to provide serial data transmission. The data is demodulated or modulated in modem, and then transferred to remote end by Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). It can achieve the purpose of transferring to or receiving data between local and remote system. In the expandable aspect, it is designed by means of system bus, so that functional chip can be easily added just by memory mapping. In designing of firmware aspect, the objective points are 1.the speed of handing data, 2.the ability of handing situation in time. The system uses interrupt method for handing critical situation matters so that it can reach the real time of response. In designing of software aspect, the job focused on the form of data transmitting frame. By using simple package, the data stream can be regarded as text or number. When micro-controller is used to construct remote controlled system in this thesis, many problems of remote transmission and hardware interface are encountered. However, the problem has been solved finally. The system functions as a point to point communication, so in the future work, this system can be enveloped to be one point to many points or many points to many points control system in the future.
