碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 88 === Today, most applications rely on point-to-point transmission result in numerous duplicated data delivering in the network. This leads very heavy load so that it is also the bottleneck on the switch. Thus, a switch with multicast transmission technology is a flexible, cost-effective solution for the widespread problem. The purpose of this thesis is to implement multicast service for ATM Internet Switch (AIS). This AIS is a switch for LAN/WAN with the capability of switching cell and packet routing. For the implement of multicast service in the AIS, a proper and optimum driver is designed. It can adapt the best effective mode of multicast service-Single Write Single Read (SWSR) in the chipsets-Bt8230 and ATMS2000 of AIS.
