Description
Summary:碩士 === 中華大學 === 資訊工程學系碩士班 === 88 === A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a characteristic by multi-hop wireless links, absence of any cellular infrastructure, and frequent host mobility. Existing on-demand multicasting protocols are divided into tree-based and mesh-based strategies. In this paper, we propose a new on-demand multicast routing protocol, namely spiral-fat-tree-based on-demand multicast protocol (SOM), for multi-hop mobile ad hoc wireless networks. With the assistance of GPS system (the location provider), our multicast protocol introduces a polygon-based concept to reduce the blind-flood problem. In addition, we build a spiral-fat-tree to be our multicasting tree. The main advantage of spiral-fat-tree is to keep the stability of multicast tree. Therefore, two brief contributions of this work are presented: (1) a polygon-based strategy is proposed to refine the tree-discovery region, and (2) a spiral-fat-tree-based strategy, is proposed to keep the stability of our multicast tree. Performance analysis illustrates that our proposed scheme outperforms existing reactive tree-based and mesh-based multicast protocols in the ad-hoc network.
