| Summary: | 碩士 === 中國醫藥學院 === 醫務管理研究所 === 88 === In response to the turbulent change of health care environment and increase of competition among hospitals since the implementation of National Health Insurance in 1995, hosptoals’ managers seemed to adopt strategic alliance as one of the most feasible strategies to enhance its'' performance and competitive advantage.
The main purpose of this study is to investigate the cooperation relationships among hospitals in response to the environmental changes. This study included all accredited hospitals which level is higher than district hospital. The response rate was 31%. Statistical analysis is applied to these 120 valid responding hospitals.
Eighty five percent of these 120 hospitals feel the competition pressure in its service area and expect that the higher the competition the stronger the trend to development hospital alliance. Eighty three percent of these hospitals are interested to join hospital alliances. Organizational characteristics, such as organization ownership and organizational structure, are not the major concerns in seeking strategic alliance.
The major considerations regarding hospital alliance are as follows: the degree of mutual trust between the allied hospitals; contents in the agreement of alliance and complementary of medical services provided by the allied hospitals. Among those hospitals interested in seeking strategic alliance, their major expectation from hospital alliance are to provide integrated medical services, to establish the patient transfer network and enhance convenience in health care services. Regarding human resources and educational training, they expect to improve human resources utilization and exchange of professional skills.
Regarding directional strategies, most of these hospitals expect to extend its service scope and contents. They also expect to promote the integration of medical resources. Regarding functional strategies, their major concern focuses on marketing strategy. Most of these hospitals expect to provide convenient medical service and to enhance the quality of service. They also expect to increase the hospital''s market share by hospital alliance.
This study demonstrates that most of the hospitals in Taiwan are looking forward to establish integrated medical services. And there are various models to develop strategic alliance as well as integration of medical services.
