The surface oxidation membrane of titanium has not definitely explained yet. Titanium owns the advantages of biologic material, the titanium is full of difficulties during casting process and fails to have a break-through development , though. The aim of this study is to elucidate the condition of the structure on the surface of titanium by coating thin Tetraisopropyl Titanate (TPT) with different concentrations, different heat treatments, and investigating by optical microscope. 5 kinds of weight ratio concentration were prepared(TPT: Iso-Propyl alcohol )1:0、1:1、1:2、1:4、1:8 with isopropyl alcohol as diluted solution, coated by Sol-gel method , sintered by different temperatures 100, 200, 300, 500, 800, and 1000℃,and then observed the surface of titanium metal with optical microscope. The results demonstrated that the stability was the best with 1:2 concentration, the TPT particals scattered equally, the surface of the sample kept equal condition, and observed with SEM, the TPT and Titanium bound together sintered by 1000℃,not by 800℃or below. It was observed that the metal surface was turning purple when sintering by 500℃, and when it was kept sintering to 800℃,the color disappeared. But the appearance of the color was not affected by its concentration. but by its sintering temperature This result suggested that variation of sintering temperature formed various thickness of oxidation membrane. The main conclusion from the aforementioned information is that influencing factors of the apperance of colours of surface of titanium metal are as follows: First, produce oxidation -reduction reaction, and is responsible for variation of thickness of oxidation membrane formation, and second , multiple light diffraction and interference effects were due to crystal phase on TiO2 or TiO2-X .
