In Final Test area, improved capacity planning is one way to increase productivity and competitiveness. In this research, a Simultaneous Resource Workload Balancing Module (SRWBM) is developed for an IC test plant. SRWBM first accumulates the capacity requirement on machines and jigs of work-in-process orders. It then releases lots according to the requirement of master production schedule. Each lot’s capacity requirement is accumulated to all stations and related jigs on its routing on the assumptions of infinite capacity of all resources. In order to reduce the capacity requirement exceeding the available capacity, SRWBM then balances the loading of simultaneous resources (i.e., machine and jig in this study) by adjusting the lot releasing time. A SRWBM program is developed in Microsoft Visual Basic, and industrial data are used to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. Based on the design of experiments, simulation results show that the approach is effective and efficient to balance the workload and reduce the variation of capacity requirement of simultaneous resources including machines and jigs.
