The error compensation system consists of three major parts :(1)NC program identification (2)error prediction ,and (3)error compensation. When a NC program is provided for machining ,the system first will identify the coordinates of the cutter trajectory and are them as the input for position error prediction through two methods :element method and element free method . Then, the predicted position errors are compensated by recursive software compensation scheme and rewrite the NC program. Finally the compensated NC program can be transferred to machine controller for machining. In order to execute the system easily, a computer aided compensation system has been developed with a friendly interface written by C++ builder. Also a set of cutting experiment has been developed to verify the feasibility of the system. The experiment results show that the machining accuracy of the CNC three-axis machining cutter is significantly improved through the compensation system.
