碩士 === 大葉大學 === 工業設計研究所 === 88 === ABSTRACT In terms of design value systems in Taiwan, those in the industrial, government and academic fields all take Western System oriented development paths but overlook the values and elucidation of own cultural tradition. As a matter of fact, the “Western-oriented” model is the very origin leading to improper practices in the design development in Taiwan and, in turn, leading to immeasurable losses in competitive edge. Therefore, the purpose of study is aimed at “Chinese philosophy” and “Chinese aesthetics” as the very origins of retrospection for Chinese culture in an effort to sum up and infer the spiritual characteristics of Chinese-oriented design and aesthetics. Meanwhile, the study draws conclusion to verify the concepts living up to present and future trends. Through the efforts, the values of Chinese-oriented designs so induced can be well recognized. As a result of study, the “Chinese philosophy” and “Chinese aesthetics”, their practice now and enlightenment future, can be very verified. After all, Taiwan’s designers will return to the very origin of their cultural systems before they can possibly step onto the unique “Chinese-oriented designs”. And, in turn, Chinese designers can develop unique design languages and play a key role on the stage of design in the international community.
