Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 土地管理學系 === 88 === With the increase of population and economic development, the living environment of human being deteriorates. The educators believe that the environmental problem can be solved to a certain degree by changing the basic attitudes and behavior of people toward environment through education. This study uses the variables of individual personality, perception and attitude toward environment, sensitivity on environment and action capability to conduct an analysis of the students of Feng Chia University to investigate into the relations among these variable and to predict the environmental behavior and its influence to the improvement of the environmental problem. The results of the analysis indicate that most students would take actions on the easier and more confined areas of the problem and avoid the policy and legal aspects of the problem. On environmental attitudes, the students agree with the new environmental paradigm and view the ecosystem as an integrated entity. The study also found that there is a lack of fundamental knowledge about the environmemnt although the students have great concern about the environmental problems. The study also found that the action capability, individual sense of responsibility, and participation of environmental behavior are the most predictable variables. The attitude and behavior are more enthusiastic for the students who participated in environmental protection activities than those who were not. Therefore, it is suggested that the design of general education programs should encourage the students to participate in the environmental protection activities and using more flexible teaching methods to increase the knowledge of the environmental problems. Furthermore, the discussion, debate and exhibition type of methods can also be used in the educational programs. In addition to the educational programs, how to enhance the sense of responsibility and the care of environment of individul are very important for the students as well.
