碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 自然資源管理研究所 === 88 === The studies to the river’s environmental quality by the early savants are concentrated on physical, chemical or biota indicators. To the day, the viewpoints of ecosystem to evaluate a river’s environmental quality has been developed. Because of the content of sustainable development the Synthesis-Index Evaluated Model is frequently to be one of the tools to evaluate a river’s environmental quality. However, varied models are developing latterly. The Synthesis-Index Evaluated Model has advantages when compare to use physical, chemical or biota indicators at the same time and it is the better method to evaluate a river’s environmental quality than others up to now. In this research we start to deal with the definitions of index and environmental quality evaluated methods by the point of index-evaluating and then to establish a suitable model of environmental quality evaluating to the rivers in Taiwan. In the case study of evaluating the river’s environmental quality of the Kao-Ping river we hope to apply the method of the Synthesis-Index Evaluated Model and make some conclusions to the government agency for policy-making.
