Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 保險營運系 === 88 === One of the most pervasive economic revolutions sweeping our world in the past 20 years centers on financial deregulation. Taiwan, like other industrial countries, recently planned to introduce various financial reforms to remove the barriers separating the operations and ownership of banks from non-bank financial institutions. This study is based upon the theoretical framework proposed by W.J. Baumol et al. (1982). We employ the translog form as cost functions to estimate the cost reduction effect of financial conglomeration in Taiwan’s life insurance industry-including the private life insurance company and the Directorate General of Postal Remittances and Savings Banks (DGPRSB) which is a government-owned business. The DGPRSB being picked up because it not only play an important role in Taiwan’s financial market but also provides a great variety of services which constitute a good sample to investigate the economies of scope.
