Impact analysis of transportation construction project is an important area for regional studies. Although many studies investigated the impacts of railway management organization, automatic control of the transportation system and the prediction of future transportation demand, very few studies touched on the impacts of local accessibility or regional development affected by railway capability. In this research, based on Taiwan Railway, spatial development of manufacturing industries are analyzed with consideration of temporal, spatial and industrial factors by use of multivariate statistics. This research aims to establish an integrated model of spatial distance and local agglomeration, conclusion can be useful to future planning of transportation project and the decision of public investment. Through the characteristic analysis of Taiwan Railway, we have verified that railway had great impacts on the local economic development, and manufacturing industries have clustered along the railway line, and the indices of development become lower with the increase of railway station distance. Was found that negative exponential model shows the best fit for spatial distance from railway station. Furthermore, the level of original development has significant effect, and the result model (Yt+5=a0*Yta1*a2-x), can be viewed as a base model of local manufacturing industry affected by Taiwan Railway. The impact of Taiwan Railway was weakened by the completion of Chung-Sun Freeway. The initial stage, impact of Chung-Sun Freeway was weak, but it becomes stronger than Taiwan Railway later. Finally, the interrelation dummy model of spatial distance and local agglomeration established in this search is useful to explain that the different types of manufacturing industries and regions. Taiwan Railway still has brought stronger influences on some manufacturing industries than others. The spatial impact of Taiwan Railway is investigated by means of statistic model in this research. Since it is impossible to test all possible model due to resource constraint, other development indices representing service industry or social sector are suggested to be included in future studies.
