碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 國際企業學研究所 === 88 === For many years, Europe’s countries found EMU and publish new currency-Euro. New currency brings new mechanisms and effects, most for bank industry. Therefore, the thesis is to describe Euro’s effects for bank industry. New currency brings new payment system-TARGET. It is more safety but cost is higher, so it’s suitable for large amount transactions. EMU promotes TARGET aggressively so bank industry must know how to implement. In addition, the thesis also integrates and describes other payment systems for Euro. Besides, Euro has appeared for a year, but its price is bearish so the thesis analyzes the situation. For all bank industry, it’s the first question for bid and conversion. Especially in transitional stage, there are several different methods and the thesis describes them. For bank in Europe, single currency represents large market but it also leads to decrease the foreign exchange business, besides it increase the cost for hardware, software and related personal expense. Most important of all, because the operation environment is more difficult, the bank industry will go to M&A. For bank in Taiwan, the related business must be affected, so the banks adjust their business process to solve these problems. Finally, I will summarize some conclusions from above topics.
