| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工程技術研究所建築學程 === 88 === The Industrial Revolution made a great impact in our life, new styles of architecture were appeared, like department stores, exhibitions, conference halls, rail stations and so forth, were created by the new building material and demand of daily life. By the way, architectures sought for new concepts due to the impact as well. The appearance of Crystal Plaze in 1851, it indicated the new concepts of structure glass and metal. Afterward, the new building material was performed in a succession of exhibitions, it took off the old style in the past and began to seek for new concept and thought. The glass building was displayed in the Technical Art Alliance Exhibition in German in 1914; simultaneously, Paul Scheerbart presented the concept of glass construct, it affected the concept of esthetics of contemporary architects. The thesis of transparency was begun to discuss as the lead of performance of new architecture style.
In this thesis, it explored how to live up to the practice of transparency regarding the building material and space: In chapter One, the main idea was the origin of the concept of transparency; the chapter two, Reviewing the theory of modern transparency, exploring the technique of expression of transparency based on the esthetic view of cubism, and continuing the way of cubism how to practice it in architecture. The chapter three was written to discuss the dematerialization trend of transparency and to analyze it from the technique level. In addition, this study was analyzed by the four topics, which were material (glass, steels), structure, space and concept.
Analyzing the practice of transparency based on the techniques of material and space, it might be realized what the concept is in the contemporary architecture, and how to boost the performance from the level of substance to thought.
