Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電子工程系 === 88 === The goal of this thesis is to utilize finite element method to analyze the ridged waveguide. It also applys the finite element method to derive the Helmholtz integral wave equation suitable for ridged waveguide. We can compute eigenvalues and eigenvectors associated with the ridged waveguide precisely using Matlab language. The thesis is primarily composed of two parts. Firstly﹐we illustate the steps and principles of finite element method.Secondly﹐ the results based on the finite element are discussed. The results include the dispersion curves of the TM waves and TE waves﹐ longitudinal electrical and magnetic field distribution﹐transverse electrical field distribution﹐ the dominant cutoff freqency﹐the wave impedance characteristics. . .etc.From our results﹐we also investigate the edge effect at metal discontinuities near the gap in the ridged waveguide.Edge effect has been an important issue in electromagnetic field. We also use a new method for calculating the wave impedance of ridged waveguide based on finite element method﹐which was developed by M.Mckay and J.Helsajn in 1998 and 1999.
