The disadvantages of conventional approaches that separate the calculations of AC and DC networks and the necessary of setting the control variables of the AC/DC converters are avoided in the proposed method. First of all, the mathematical models of the major facilities of the AC/DC power supply systems of the MRTS were introduced. These equivalent circuit models were implemented by the Intusoft IsSpice. After the model of a simple converter bank was implemented. The effects of source voltage unbalance and harmonic pollution on the rectifier were evaluated. Finally, the full-scale model of the AC/DC network of the Panchiao-Nankang line of Taipei MRTS was implemented and simulated by the IsSpice. The voltage profiles, power flows and harmonics on both AC and DC networks can be obtained in a single run.
