Words in abstract： 209. ABSTRACT This is a qualitative research and purpose research is to understand the relationship of low income families. The first goal of present study is to understand the impact of parent-role absence on children. Second to explore grandparents─grandchildren of interaction style.. Sixteen cases were purposefully selected for in depth interview from Taipei County. The findings are: 1.The grandparents need to work, to support the families the grandchildren to suspend their school lessons to make a living. 2.The grandparents-grandchildren have certain rules for time and money. The grandchildren’s rights of making friends are not allowed. 3.The grandparents’ parenting styles are mostly combined the “inconsistent” type and “laissez faire” type. 4.The grandparents with their spouse alive adapt better than the ones who lose their spouses. 5.The grandchildrenal sibling subsystem mostly presents the harmonious and dependent relationship. 6.The grandparents may face the dilemma of teaching and loving the grandchildren. 7.The relationships of grandparents-grandchildren in low income families can be divided five types: intimacy、superficiality、benignity、alienation and denial. Intimacy and superficiality happen most often; and benignity and alienation happen less often. The similarities and the difference among those five types are also discussed. The concrete suggestions for the social welfare services for grandparents and grandchildren are recommended.
