Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 大陸研究所 === 88 === Since ROC government permitted going for a tour and visiting with relative in Mainland China, PRC has implemented the reform and the ''''open door'''' policy for several years. In addition, economic issue plays more important role in international relations at the epoch of Post-Cold War. As a result, there are more and more economic and trade interactions across the Taiwan-Strait. On the other hand, however, this did not mark the beginning of the end of the political and military conflict between ROC and PRC. As a matter of fact, it involves both of them in a great deal of complex situation. The main theme of this thesis is how to make clear the relationship between the variables of politics and economy across the Taiwan-Strait. Furthermore, the point focuses on whether or how politics interferes in economic affairs and whether economic action is transformed into political influence. The thesis argue the relationship between politics and economy by analyzing the conflict and cooperation on economic and trade policies in cross-strait relations. The composition of structure is as follows. First, this thesis advance the factors affecting political economic conflict and cooperation and raise a hypotheses, which is the economic and trade policy tends to transform cooperation strategy into defect one when decision maker realize that political economy develops on the brink of crossing over the verge point of ''''relative gains vulnerability,'''' from international relations theories. Then, POC and PRC governments make economic and trade decision under the political economic structure in Cross-Strait relations. The economic structure is an interdependent win-win-game, and the political one is a conflict zero-sum-game. After that, the defect strategy of economic and trade policies appeared frequently in four events which are ''''the event of Chian Dou Lake murder case,'''' ''''President Lee visited U.S.,'''' ''''the announcement of "No haste, Be patient " policy,'''' and ''''formulation of special state-to-state relationship.'''' Finally, by analyzing the various factors affecting political economic conflict and cooperation of four events, we can deduce the cause, effect, and influence about affecting political economic conflict and cooperation between PRC and ROC. This thesis tries to set up a analyzable structure, which adopts the concept from western international relations theories, to examine the relations across the Taiwan-Strait. It could not only be used for proving the theory to be valid, but also could be utilized for explaining, analyzing, and predicting the development of Cross-Strait relations.
