| Summary: | 碩士 === 臺南藝術學院 === 博物館學研究所 === 88 === The main theme of my thesis lays on the discussion of the possible meanings of a city museum. I would like to exam the history of a special city - Taipei, the most populated and developed city in Taiwan through museological aspects.
Firstly, by adopting the contemporary research on city and the relating theories of city museums, I attempt to explore the various faces and nature of a City Museum. Secondly, I try to combine the traits of the city museum and Eco-museum together, inspired by reading the popular notions of new museology, in a hope to present my idea that the City is a museum itself.
In the third chapter, the comparisons between museums in six selected cities, including London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore are offered here, in order to understand the different qualities and special treats of each city which tie closely to the history and location of each city.
In the forth chapter, I provide several background sources regarding to the cultural and historical contexts of my subject, so as to define an imaginary city museum.
In the last session, I focus on the five main themes: "Nature of City", "Development of Taipei City", "Taipei People", "Culture Map of Taipei " and "City Issues" that coincide to the examples provided in the chapter three.
Throughout the analysis on each step, I hope this thesis will offer any help in both theoretical and experimental research.
