Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 工業設計研究所 === 88 === Abstract Due to the continuous progress in computer technology, there has been a continuous enhancement in the functionality of intelligent products. In particular, the monitor has played an important role since the beginning of computers. Its main function is to show computer user the operating status of various messages or software processed by the computer system. In fact, the monitor is the most important interface between the user and the computer system. The design of a monitor is chiefly focused on the increase in resolution, display quality and size, as well as the various functions. At the same time, the content of OSD (On Screen Display) has also increased and become more complex each day, causing many problems relating to adjustment function, operating interface and operating knowledge for the user. This Study began by gathering 20 15" monitors, 24 17" monitors and 17 19" monitors in order to compare each product''s general OSD functions; and six models (Compaq MV720, Dell M780, Hitachi CM776ET, LG 795FT, NEC FE950 and ViewSonic E70) of monitors in order to analyze each OSD function and operating procedure. A questionnaire survey was then conducted to analyze users'' knowledge of existing products'' OSD icon design and various operating problems were categorized. These include unfamiliarity with adjustment function, inadequate knowledge of function icons, difficulty in learning operating interface and OSD display being monotonous and unfriendly. Therefore, an investigation was conducted to study the icon, operating interface and user operating status of current monitors'' OSD. The study includes details such as knowledge of icons and symbols, analysis of interface design and users'' operating knowledge. At the end of the study, a new friendly, lively, interesting, animated and easy-to-operate OSD adjustment function screen was designed, and compared with the ViewSonic E70 monitor in terms of the difference in number of operating steps and operating duration. The results of this Study may provide a reference for local monitor designers and OSD vendors, and help to develop more easily comprehensible and usable monitor adjustment mode, allowing computer users to adjust monitor OSD functions quickly and effectively.
