Summary: | 碩士 === 國立陽明大學 === 環境衛生研究所 === 88 === The purposes of this study are to realize the VDT operators’ neck stiffness differences between before and after work, and to measure the neck stiffness by the Cervical Range of Motion (CROM). Some factors which may affect the neck stiffness including working mode and posture, frequency and type of sports, and leisure activities are also investigated. The subjects of the study are divided into three groups according to the VDT operation time, which are (1) Lower VDT operation during the work (low exposure group, 32 subjects), (2) VDT operation for half of the work (intermediate group, 28 subjects), (3) VDT operation almost all through the work hour (high group, 89 subjects). The subjective symptoms questionnaire and the CROM instrument were used to evaluate VDT operators’ neck fatigue.
The high exposure group shows the highest prevalence of “neck stiffness” after work among the three groups. In the CROM measurements, the cervical active range of motion (AROM) of the intermediate and high groups decrease significantly (P<0.05) after work.
This study also shows that the prevalence of subjective neck stiffness after work is higher than that before work (65.6% vs. 40%). This result is consistent with the measurement of CROM. Hence, our study develops the CROM be an objective instrument suitable to measure VDT operators’ neck fatigue.
