Subjects were chosen from the ENT ward in a medical center, 150 patients of FESS under general anesthesia were investigated. An experimental design was used for this study. By controlling the motion sickness variable, subjects were randomly assigned to a acupressure group, a wrist-bands instead of needles, and a control group. Each group consisted of 50 subjects. The acupressure group and Wrist-bands group used the same acupressure point, while the control group only had postoperative nursing instructions. Ether the acupressure group or the control group had treatment for 20 minutes, 3 times within first 24 hours after surgery. Every group had the same application time schedule, first is at 1 hour before surgery, second is at the postanesthesia care unit before transfer to ward, and the third time is at 10 hour after surgery, but in wrist-bands group, the " Sea-band" was placed over P6 and H7 point on the non-iv wrist prior to surgery 1 hour. After experiencing experimental treatment, descriptive analysis、chi-square、one-way ANOVA、 pair t-test 、 multiple regression and pearson's product-moment correlation were used to analyze the data. The result of the study were as follow:Most nausea and vomiting occur within 2-10 hrs postoperation; There is significant difference in the incidence of the postoperative nausea and vomiting between acupressure group and control group, nausea incidence rate improved 77.2% and vomiting incidence rate 95.1%;improve vomiting amount and disconfortable degree; but can not reduce level of the anxiety status. The correlation between demographic data and the differences of nausea and vomit incidence are sex、motion status and ASA degree. However, both two non-invasive approaches were better effective than control group. In view of the total absence of any side effects in these subjects, the clinical applications of this finding are worthy of further study. Therefore, acupressure at these points can prevent for postoperative nausea and vomiting. Key words : acupressure, wrist-bands, postoperative, nausea, vomiting.
