Summary:碩士 === 中原大學 === 土木工程學系 === 89 === Abstract Fiber reinforced polymers possess the advantages of high tensile strength, high corrosive resistance, low volume and light-weight, etc. Previous researches show that FRP can be applied on building structures with excellent results, both on safety and economic benefit. This research will review present design theories on beams and columns. Their accuracy and applicability are compared. Then design bases for FRP on reinforced concrete structures are proposed. For beam elements, an economic design method is to limit its shear strength so that shear failure will never control. This research also studies the benefit of retrofit for industrial review. Key words: composite material, FRP, retrofit design, retrofit test.
