In recent years, the shortage of natural resource and the rise of labor cost make the operation of manufacturing firms become more difficult in Taiwan. Therefore, how to enhance business functions and to improve productivity and then promoting the manufacturing firms’ competitiveness has been an important issue. Based on the measurement of total factor productivity (TFP), from the views of four business functions, i.e. production management, financial management, human resource management and marketing management, this study aims to find out the relationship between business functions and associated productivities. Furthermore, factor analysis is used to extract the key success factors of each business function. Using these factors, fuzzy clustering approaches are then employed to categorize the firms into several patterns with distinct characteristics of productivity. Pattern approach is applied to discuss the characteristics of productivity and critical factors of business functions for each pattern, and some suggestions to improve the firms’ productivity are proposed. Finally, integrating the associated indices of achievement levels of four business functions, a relation model between business functions and TFP is set up. Pattern approach based on distinct characteristics of business functions and productivity is also applied to explore the firms’ orientations and relative competitive strength. The conclusion would help the firms reinforce their business functions and adjust their directions of organizational development. This could make performance of the firms’ productivities and competitive advantage of manufacturing industry in Taiwan can be further improved. Liang-Hsuan Chen 陳梁軒 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 95 zh-TW |
