Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 電機工程學系 === 89 === Due to rapid development in computing and consumer devices, indicates a strong wish for advance automation in the home environment. Devices and applications will work together and offer more powerful and convenient services. The problems of the configuration and management of network are now becoming more complex. The problems have been solved by some technology such as Jini, Bluetooth, UPnP, Salutation, and SLP. The most notable ones is Jini. Jini is a Sun technology for the development and management of distributed system, supporting automation networking of the devices that enable devices to plug together to form an impromptu community. Jini plays roles not only in networked and embedded devices for service discovery and announcement but also in workflow application. In workflow technology, the facilities (such as, handle-driven design of Jini lookup service, transaction, event notification, JavaSpace, and RMID) of Jini provide many advantages in workflow application field. Another problem in home automation is the behavior of ad-hoc workflow. Workflow model in home automation is hard to be predefined for the process. Another issue is that users want to build the workflow more dynamically and flexibly on their demand. This adds more complexity in the domain. In this paper we describes an agent-based design to solve the ad-hoc workflow problem in home automation. The agent is rule-based processing, called Rule-Driven Coordination (RDC) Agent, which are middle agents that acts as brokers to the individual component architectures. Our agent design is similar to RDC agents but address in home automation and Internet service domain.
