After it hit the all time high in 1996, its powers and influence soon subsided and are currently on the verge of fading into bubble. The year 1997 should be the turning point of New Party’s dramatic development. The present thesis hypothesizes both political parties and voters are doers in their roles. To voters, political parties are to play the sound role as a constructive party to win over voter’s approval. Voters, on the other hand, play the role to approve or disapprove of political parties in their image and performing of roles by means of public voice and votes. In the reciprocal process, it would determine not only voter’s attitude toward political parties and further determine powers of political parties as the best agreement with partisan image snd political party policies as approved by voter before the political parties could win over support from voters through ballots. In turn, the political parties could continually grow and develop. In terms of political parties themselves, the internal relations, inter-party relations, partisan operation in the congress and election from the process to determine partisan image and policies. All these suggest the key points this thesis is to probe and analyze. Last, but not least, the thesis looks into New Party’s development path over the past seven years through theories and four aforementioned facets, with certain proposals in the hope that the New Party, taking reference to the proposal , reshape the partisan image and policies to live up to voter’s demand on the the New Party about its role to continually stay active in Taiwan’s political sphere. With the proposals, the New Party may rid itself of the crisis of subsiding into bubbles and, in turn, offer positive and constructive contribution to the political arena in Taiwan.
