Activity levels of the elderly can be affected greatly by foot problems, and his or her level of in order independence may become limited. Activity levels are essential to keep elderly persons healthy, functional and independent. Because foot problems influence elderly in both the community as well as the hospital setting, proper care is important. The goal of this research is to find the foot problems and affecting factors in elderly community dwellers. This research is based on descriptive investigation through samplings of elderly community dwellers. And data were collected through constructive questions. Out of 106 elderly interviewed, 101 reports were obtained. The research findings are: (1) There are at least two kinds of foot problems for each survey individual, and fungal infection is the most prevalent. (2) These with chronic diseases tend to be correlated with more foot and lower extremity circulation problems. (3) Mobility is one prediction variant of foot neuropathy. (4) The result of self-foot inspection can predict skin abnormalities of the foot. (5) In nail abnormalities of foot, fungal infection is the most likely cause. (6) Mobility can predict the levels of the foot care. Elderly with less capability of movement tend to have less foot care. (7) Elderly foot problems need to be emphasized and addressed. From the practical nursing point of view, a regular foot care related program need to be established. Elderly in hospital or community setting can be provided with regular foot assessment and care, follow-up, and referrals. From the educational nursing point of view, knowledge and training of foot care techniques should be included in practical training and continuing education. As a result, foot care protocols can be developed, and the quality of elderly care can be improved.
