Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 89 === The advancement of wireless technologies has enabled multimedia services in mobile cellular networks. An efficient bandwidth management is needed to guarantee the QoS requirement for the multimedia services. In this thesis, we propose a dynamic handoff reservation (DHR) scheme based on a hybrid prediction mechanism. The prediction mechanism uses four kinds of information (distance, received signal strength, orientation, and mobility pattern) to estimate the handoff probability. The dynamic reservation scheme has two features: 1) The reservation for multiclass traffic is supported. 2) The bandwidth reserved for handoff calls is sharable to achieve the higher bandwidth utilization and a lower handoff call dropping rate. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides superior system throughput under homogeneous and heterogeneous traffic loading conditions.
