Summary:碩士 === 臺東師範學院 === 兒童文學研究所 === 89 === This thesis aims at clarifying and analyzing the development of theories and criticism of POETRY FOR CHILDREN in Taiwan, and to examine the gain and loss which was caused by the trend of the history. By observing the development of Poetry for Children in Taiwan, I hope to reveal its insufficiency, so as to show current poets and literary critics the probable striving guide. This thesis includes seven chapters. Chapter One explains motivations, purpose, methods, values and limitations. Chapter Two reviews the history of the development of POETRY FOR CHILDREN in Taiwan. Chapter Three ~ Six occupies the highest capacity of this thesis, and it depicts the main subject of this research. The whole development course is divided into 4 periods: The first is the Brewing Period (1945~1971); The second is the Foundation-Laying Period (1972~1981); The third is the Flourishing Period (1982~1994); The fourth is the Suspending Period (1995~2000). The last chapter is the conclusions. Appendix 1: Table of Annual report of the development of POETRY FOR CHILDREN in Taiwan (1945~2000). Appendix 2: Compilation of published critical essays of POETRY FOR CHILDREN in Taiwan (1945~2000).
