Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 光電工程學研究所 === 89 === In this thesis, I discuss in detail the design issues of dispersion compensation in a high peak-power ultrashort pulse laser system. I also describe how to construct some of the crucial components of this laser system including pulse stretcher, regenerative amplifier, and pulse compressor. By using the chirped-pulse amplification technique, combined with the use of broad-bandwidth laser gain media such as Ti:sapphire, we've successfully built a tabletop high peak-power ultrashort pulse laser system. The temporal and spatial characteristics of the output pulse of this laser system is carefully measured by using some of the latest pulse diagnostic techniques. Laser peak intensities of $10^{19}$ W/cm$^2$ can be generated by properly focusing the output pulse of this laser system. Such high laser intensities can be utilized to conduct various kinds of laser-plasma interaction experiments. Preliminary results of several laser-plasma interaction experiments show that our system is good enough to be used to do research in high field sciences.
