Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 美術研究所 === 89 === Abstract I. Background: "The Essence of Art" should not be built only on "Denial" and "Creation". It should not be too ideal (it isolates art from the society), neither too materialistic (it destroys the independence and variety of art.). It should be built on the evolution and development of culture and society. Just as what the historian Arnold Hauser said, “ Social Evolutionism is the key to explain the idea of human and the history of art.” In order to identify the theory and action of “The Essence of Art”, I am trying to understand the journey of some great artists, to help me clearly realize the spirit of their creation. They truly faced the nature and lives, escaped the limitation from the society and existing recognition, bravely confronted the challenge, and inspired from inmost emotion. Those are the necessarily abnormal examination for artists, and also, help my self-realization. “Recognition and Creation” is shaped on these characteristics, and trying to search the invisible gene of existence from the history and living environment. These are the origin of creation. I believe we can only handle the reality of art by practicing self-realization from the origin, assisted by the comprehensible experience of recognition. II. Analysis of Thesis Social phenomenon is presented in human’s subconscious. It is the imagination or result from the companionship among human beings. People accumulate the details of daily lives in their minds; turn into their own conscious, and then express through the way of art. I have taken a long-term notice on the delicate relationship among people, society and nature, and created a serial of works about that, such as “memories”, “silver cord”, “love”, ”impression” and “two coasts”. Even though the expression and material may vary, the axis of idea never deviates from “recognition” and “phenomenon”.
