Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 運動教練研究所 === 89 === The purpose of this study was to analyze self-confidence and self-talk of the elite tennis players in Taiwan. Qualitative methods were utilized for data analysis. Participants were six selected national tennis players from 1998-2001 Davis Cup or Feder Cup. This study investigated the players’ positive self-talk to increase their self-confidence and develop their psychological training programs through modern training method. Three main areas of interviews were conducted as follows: 1.The competition environment. 2.The opponents. 3.The situations in practice or competitions. The findings are as follows: 1.The competition environment includes time differences, different courts and different weather patterns. Majority of players mention that no matter what kinds of problems they face, they always use positive self-talk to increase their self-confidence. 2.No matter what type of opponents, majority of players use positive self-talk. They observe the opponents’ strengths and weaknesses carefully and attack opponents’ weaknesses accordingly. They talk to themselves they can do it. 3.The situations in practice or competition include nine questions. They have difference situations in competitions. They use different ways to solve their problems. They always apply positive self-talk to increase their self-confidence.
