A Study of Job Morale of Dance Teachers In the Dance Talented Classes

碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 舞蹈研究所 === 89 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the job morale of dance teachers who work in the dance talented classes at primary, junior high and high schools in Taiwan and then to investigate variables that influence job morale of dance teachers. There were 219 dance teachers teaching in dance talented classes had participated in this study by using a well-developed instrument, “Questionnaire of influencing factors of job morale on dance teachers”. The survey data was analyzed by using statistical methods of percentile, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, and the Scheff’e analysis. Also, the written contents of the open-ended questions were analyzed. The results of this study are summarized as the follows： 1.Overall, the dance teachers had low job morale. The influential factors that lower job morale of dance teachers of talented classes in descending order were “financial benefit”, “professional knowledge”, “instructional skill”, “reasonable job load”, and “administrative support”. 2.There were significant differences in teachers’ job morale among background variables. （1）The teachers of age between 33~39 tended to perceive greater negative influences on the factor of “social” than did the teachers of age between 30~34. （2）The teachers of elementary schools tended to perceive greater negative influences on the factors of “instructional skill”, ”family” and “social“ than did the teachers of junior high and high schools. Moreover, the teachers of elementary schools exhibited lower morale level than did the teachers of junior high schools on morale factor of “teachers’ relationship”. （3）The teachers with one-year contract had lower job morale than did the teachers of part-time on “instructional skill” factor. Moreover, the qualified teachers tended to perceive greater negative influences on the factor of ”family” than did the teachers of part-time. （4）The teachers with teaching experience between 6~9 years tended to perceive greater negative influences on the factors of ”reasonable job load” and “social“ than did the teachers with teaching experience between 1~3 years. （5）The teachers, who had majored in dancing, and also had earned education credits tended to perceive greater negative influences on the factor of “instructional skill” than did the others. （6）The teachers with master or college degree exhibited lower morale than did the teachers with academy degree on the factor of “financial benefit”. According to the findings of this study, suggestions and recommendation are offered for government, administrators of school, dance teachers of the dance talented classes, and future research.
